BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital should be patient friendly: Acting PM Singh

By TRN Online, Chitwan, Sept 26: Acting Prime Minister and minister for urban development Prakash Man Singh has directed the doctors and staffs of BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital to dispense the service effectively.

Addressing the 25th anniversary and 20th national cancer awareness day, the acting PM appreciated the progress of the hospital in view of of limited means and resources.

He said, “I extend my thank for the commitment and determination of the hospital to work hard to make treatment of all kind of cancer possible." 

The acting PM committed that he will take initiative to purchase medical equipment like LINAC and CT simulator necessary for the cancer treatment. 

“This hospital has been established to treat cancer so to end the compulsion of going abroad for treatment”, he said

Similarly, the Provincial Chief of Bagmati Province Deepak Prasad Devkota has said that this hospital is a lifeline of the country. He vowed,  “People should get treatment easily and extension in services”. 

Executive director of the hospital Dr Shivaji Paudel said that out of the total cancer patients of Nepal 50 to 60 per cent of patients gets treatment from this hospital. He informed that 20 per cent go to another hospitals and remaining 20 per per cent go abroad for cancer treatment. 

He shared that the hospital is planning extend its capacity to 700 beds in future.
