1974 AD touring various countries

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 21: Popular rock band 1974 AD is currently on a worldwide music tour celebrating its 30th anniversary. 

After performances in Germany and the UK, the band is now performing in various Australian cities. 

Concerts have already been held in Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Hobart and Canberra. 

The band is performing in Sydney on September 21, marking the first Nepali musical band to perform at ICC Sydney Theatre. 

The organisers expect an audience of 5,500 in the concert.

The band’s founder and bassist, Nirakar Yakthumba, said that they are excited about the Sydney performance.

 “This time, on the 30th anniversary, we will try to deliver a special performance in Sydney.” He mentioned that it is a great opportunity and privilege for a Nepali band to perform at ICC for the first time. With the concert in Sydney, 1974 AD will conclude its Australia tour.

The former Australian ambassador to Nepal, Felicity Volk, has been participating as an audience in this tour. 

On September 19, during the concert in Canberra, she even took to the stage and waved the Nepali flag. She was also seen wearing a 1974 AD T-shirt.

The band announced that her voice could be heard during the chorus section of their song ‘Dil Le Haina Jaat Le’.

 The 1974 AD is formed in Kathmandu in the early 1990s.
