Kathmandu, Sept. 19: The government has decided to forward the report of the Parliamentary Special Investigation Committee on cooperatives fund embezzlement to the concerned ministries for an immediate implementation.
In a Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday evening at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM), Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli instructed to send the report to the concerned ministries for immediate action and implementation.
Talking to journalists after the Cabinet meeting, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said that the Prime Minister instructed to send the
report forwarded by the parliament directly to the relevant ministries, and the concerned ministries were directed to take the necessary action.
In response to journalists’ questions regarding the report of the cooperatives, Minister Gurung, who is also the government spokesperson, said that whoever are pointed out or accused in the report for embezzling the cooperatives amount, would be taken action.
“Everyone who the report has suggested and identified as accused ones, will be recommended for action, there has been nothing as such mentioned and talked about ‘clean chit’ given to anybody in the investigation report drafted by UML leader and lawmaker and coordinator of the Committee Surya Bahadur Thapa Chhetri, said Minister Gurung.
The Rastriya Swatantra Party and its leaders have claimed that the report gave a clean chit to their leader Rabi Lamichhane, but the government spokesperson refuted the claim.
The Cooperative Investigation Committee had submitted its report to the Parliament on Monday, and the Speaker of the House directed the government to take the necessary action.
The Parliamentary Special Committee, in its report, concluded that the funds of cooperatives like Surya Darshan and Supreme had been misappropriated by Gorkha Media Network, and recommended action against GB Rai, Kumar Ramtel, Rabi Lamichhane, and Chhabilal Joshi.
