By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 16: The Safe House constructed by the Nepali Army in Kutiyakabhar village in Dodhara Chandani Municipality-10 in Kanchanpur district has proven to be highly effective during major monsoon-led disasters this year.

The Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Army Headquarters said on Sunday that the safe house constructed by the Nepali Army under the Quick Impact Project was recently handed over to the Mayor of Dodhara Chandani Municipality, Kishor Kumar Limbu, by the Western Division Headquarters on July 1, 2021.

Several villages and the locals were affected by the continuous rainfall on September 11 in the district. Especially, Kutiyakhabar village was inundated because of the downpour of September 11. The locals evacuated from the village were taken to the safe house of the army.

According to Brigadier General and Nepali Army Spokesperson Gaurav KC, the safe house built by the army has proven its usefulness and effectiveness. He said that 56 residents, including individuals and children affected by the flood, took shelter in the safe house.

Spokesperson KC also said that the villagers of the same municipality had also utilised the same house after four days of continuous rainfall on July 4, 2024.
