By Tilachan Pandey,Tamghas, Aug. 17: Government vehicles worth millions of rupees are left useless in Gulmi.

Four Land Rover motors, which cost millions of rupees, and two ambulances of Gulmi Hospital have been in an abandoned situation on the premises of the District Coordination Committee for a long time.

Similarly, 38 motorcycles bearing government number plates of government offices and local levels have also been left unused.

Among the six vehicles, the records of only a few are found. Of the four Land Rover motors left useless at a corner of the District Coordination Committee of Gulmi, records of only two are found and it is not known to which the two other Land Rover vehicles belonged as they lack documents.

Shrijana Mishra, an information officer, said that records of only two vehicles (numbered Ba 1 Jha 6680 and 6681) were found but no record of the two others was found.

According to her, even the two vehicles whose records were found were not renewed for years while of the two which lacked records, one has no number plate while that of the other is not decipherable.

So far, the office has not shown any interest in managing the unused vehicles.

Likewise, the two ambulances of Gulmi Hospital that used to carry patients have themselves become sick.

Ramesh Prasad Panthi, information officer of Gulmi Hospital, informed that the ambulances numbered Lu 1 Jha 279 and Lu 1 Jh 235 were kept in a corner of the hospital.

He said that it was legally not easy to auction the vehicles received in grants or bought exempting customs duties.

Likewise, the remains of a dozer are in front of the District Telecommunication Office building. The dozer has been in the same condition since the establishment of the Telecommunication Office in Gulmi.

So far, no company or person has come to claim the dozer. The office said that the dozer had been an eyesore for them.

Krishna Prasad Sharma, Chief District Officer of Gulmi, said that the details of useless vehicles and motorcycles were being collected.

Four vehicles and 38 motorcycles have to be kept in auction in the district, he said.

He further said that the two vehicles kept in the compound of the District Coordination Committee and the dozer in the Telecommunication Office were without records, and they were finding it difficult to manage them.

Chief District Officer Sharma said that as the four-wheeler and two-wheeler vehicles, whose records were found were not renewed for a long time, they were facing problems in auctioning them.
