By Meena Kandel,Kawasoti, Aug. 13: Devchuli Municipality in Nawalpur district has brought an ambulance into operation.

After Ward No. 12 of the municipality brought an ambulance into operation to ferry the patients including those requiring kidney dialysis to the hospital free of cost, the citizens have felt it easy to reach hospitals.

Lok Prasad Bhurtel, Ward chairman of Ward No. 12, said that they purchased the ambulance for Rs. 2.25 million to operate in the name of Basic Health Centre Gaidi from the municipal budget of the fiscal year 2023/24.

Hari Prasad Neupane, Mayor of Devchuli Municipality, said that the ambulance service would make it easier for the people of Ward No. 12 and surrounding areas to reach the hospital.

He said that no citizen should be deprived of health services for lack of money. The ambulance service would provide free service, especially to patients who need kidney dialysis, which would be a relief to them.

Dharma Kumar Neupane, Vice chairman of the Basic Health Centre and ward member, said that the locals were happy that after the ward purchased the ambulance, it would be easier for them to bring the patients to the nearest and other hospitals.

Kidney patients have felt a sigh of relief after Madhyabindu District Hospital introduced the dialysis service in the district.

Chhabilal Subedi, Information Officer at Madhyabindu District Hospital, said that 20 patients were receiving dialysis treatment service in two shifts at the district hospital daily.

"Earlier, the kidney patients in the district had to go to Chitwan or Kathmandu for dialysis.

Those who could not afford to visit other districts were helpless. But now such a situation has ended with the introduction of the dialysis service in Madhyabindhu and ambulance service in the neighbouring municipality," he said.
