Myagdi, Aug 10: The Chhusang-Chaile section of Mustang along the Beni-Jomsom-Korala under the Kaligandaki corridor linking China and India has been upgraded.

The company which was awarded the contract for placing gravels on the five-kilometre road from Baragung Muktichhetra-3, Chhusang to Chaile has completed the task before the stipulated deadline.

Information Officer at the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road project, engineer Bishnu Chapagain shared 95 percent physical progress has been made in the contract that has the timeline up to August 31.

The Rohit & Chhering DS Builders United JV Construction was awarded the contract for road gravelling, culvert and drainage construction and Chhusang-based Mustang gate bridge protection at a total of Rs 43.1 million last year.

Jeevan Rokaya, a representative of the contractor company, said despite adverse geography and weather coupled with economic crisis, the task has been completed in the stated time due to adequate equipment, mobilization of workers, management of construction materials, coordination with the project office and local level.

Though most of the works were completed in the last month, the construction period has been postponed by a month due to lack of budget at the project office, he said.

The Chusang-Chaile road up-gradation plan has imparted a message that delay in the construction works can be removed if the builders have the will power with enabling working environment at local level and facilitating and coordinating roles from the concerned actors. (RSS)
