Farmer attraction for fish farming

Madhyabindu(Nawalpur), Aug 9: Farmers of Bardaghat East-Susta are attracted towards the fish-farming.   

Nepal Fisheries Centre has declared this district appropriate for fish farming. 

According to the Head of the Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Service Expert Centre, Nawalpur, Rishav Guragain, fish farming has gone up in the last three years. Guragain said that the fish ponds in fiscal year (FY) 2079/80 BS recorded 1517 which has now risen to 1574 in FY 2080/81 BS. 

The data showed that the fish production in FY 2078/79 recorded 933 metric tons, in 2079/80 its 968 metric tons and in 2080/81 went up to  981 metric tons.

A fish hatchery has been installed in the last year to support commercial fish farming.

There are 6 fishing resource centres. 

The fishing farming is monitored by the Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Service Expert Centre, Bardaghat.

New ponds are constructed in hundred hectares of Kawasoti, Devachuli, and Madhyabindu municipalities under the Commercial Agriculture Centre (Fish Block) program to encourage the farmers.
