The museum was established about 15 years ago as a repository of various artefacts reflecting religious, historical and cultural significance of the historical town of Panauti. Old coins, paper currency notes, and locally used household items are also on display in the museum along with sculptures from the Malla period, Shah period, woodwork samples, various costumes and old weapons from ancient times.
