Bhojpur, Aug 6: The Koshi province
government has distributed relief air to the families of those who lost their
loved ones in the Irkhuwa river floods.
Relief was distributed to two
families who had their members killed in the flood that occurred on July
31.
Shyam Kumar Tharu and Ramesh Tharu,
laborers working in the Irkhuwakhola hydropower project, were swept away by the
floods in the river.
The province government provided Rs
100,000 in cash and groceries along with blankets and tents to the five flood
affected families, said Minister of State at the Office of the Chief Minister
and Council of Ministers Shrijan Rai. More relief will be distributed after the
complete details of the families of the victims of Shadananda municipality and
Salpasilicho rural municipality is received.
A team including Minister of
Internal Affairs and Law Lilaballav Adhikari reached Fedi in Salpasilichho Rural
Municipality and took information about the damage caused by the floods.
Meanwhile, the Koshi province
government has instructed the relevant agencies to send the full details of the
damage to the ministry as soon as possible.
Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki
said that immediate steps will be taken to rebuild, repair and protect the
suspension bridge and motorable bridge damaged by the floods.
Chairperson of Salpasilichho Rural
Municipality, Daulath Kulung, shared that the Irkhuwakhola flood damaged Nagdah
concrete bridge, Tamutar concrete bridge, Gaudeni concrete bridge, Tavutar
suspension bridge, Gothebazar suspension bridge, Nagdah suspension bridge,
Dovane suspension bridge and Wagwalung suspension bridge.
He also said that the Irkhuwakhola
hydropower project was completely damaged by the floods. Three other hydropower
plants and riverside settlements suffered damage, said Chair Kulung. (RSS)
