Now, only two families living in Jang village of Limi Valley

By Our Correspondent,Humla, August 6: Only two households live in Jang village in Limi Valley of Namkha Rural Municipality-6. Since locals have migrated to Kathmandu and other urban centres, only two households currently inhabit the village.

Kunchok Tamang, a local said, "For the last 10 years, the locals have been migrating to Kathmandu and other major cities at an alarming rate. It seems that the village will be empty in no time."

Until last year, twelve families lived in the village but 10 families have migrated from the village to date.

Working as a farmer in the village does not yield enough to support expenses for more than six months, so the villagers either migrate to Taklakot or Kathmandu in search of better prospects.

Ward chairman Paljor Tamang said that currently, only senior citizens are living in the two households in the village. The government should take measures to resettle the villagers.

Although the village has essential infrastructures like water supply, electricity, irrigation and roads, the exodus of villagers has not stopped.

He said that the two families living in the village were requested to migrate, but the two families refused. The village was saved from being deserted.

The lack of students led to the closure of Bhrikuti Primary Secondary School in Limi Valley. The rural municipality arranged placements for its teachers elsewhere.
