115 killed, 288 injured in road accidents in three years in Nawalpur

By Our Correspondent,Nawalpur, July 29: At least 115 persons were killed and over 288 persons sustained critical injuries in road accidents in Nawalpur in the last three years. 

According to the District Traffic Police Office, 115 persons have lost their lives in road accidents since 2021.

Police Inspector Achyut Acharya said that within the past three years, 306 vehicles met different road accidents and in them, 288 persons were critically injured and 323 sustained minor injuries.

According to data, 40 persons died in 95 road accidents in the fiscal year 2021/22, 29 died in 76 accidents in the fiscal year 2022/23 and 46 died in 135 road accidents in the fiscal year 2023/24.

Inspector Acharya said the main causes of accidents are the poor condition of the roads, negligence on the part of the driver, driving at high speed, driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the cattle haphazardly on the roads, pedestrians crossing the road randomly and carrying more passengers than the capacity.

According to police data, more accidents occur along the internal roads than along the main roads. Mostly motorcycles and scooters are found involved in the road accidents, said traffic police.
