Good deeds will get you good outcome, says first female Chief Secretary

Kathmandu, July 25: Liladevi Gadtaula has become the first woman chief secretary in the administrative history of the Nepal.     

She was elevated to the post of Chief Secretary by the government today, after serving as Acting Chief Secretary since July 15. Born in Terhathum district on 15 Bhadra 2023 BS, Gadtaula had entered the civil service in 2052 BS as a section officer under the judicial service.     

She was promoted to the post of Under Secretary in 2063, Joint Secretary in 2070 and Secretary in 2077 BS. Due to age limit, she will retire from service from coming August 31.     

The newly appointed Chief Secretary Gadtaula, who believes in the notion that 'good deeds will always be rewarded', said that the government entrusted her with the responsibility as a result of her good performance in the civil service.     

 "This government seems generous towards women. And furthermore, the responsibility of chief secretary has been given to an employee coming from the judicial service, thanks to the government,” she said.     

Chief Secretary Gadtaula said this also sends out a message among the civil servants that if they work honestly they will be valued and opportunities will come one day or the other. "If you do good, you will get good outcome," she said.     

Pointing out the need for all civil servants to work together to facilitate and simplify the service delivery from the state to the people, Chief Secretary Gadtaula expressed her determination to advance the civil service bill that is before the parliament and to provide incentives and inspiration for those doing good.(RSS)
