Re-appointed Home Minister Gurung takes charge

Kathmandu, June 9: Reappointed Minister for Home Affairs, Sudhan Gurung, has assumed his office.     

Taking charge at the ministry in Singha Durbar today, he said, "From now onwards, the Home Ministry will act seriously and sensibly against the efforts to defame and assassinate character of any Nepali citizen".     

Upon assuming the office, Minister Gurung decided to constitute a special task force to investigate whether cases with criminal charges related to the Gen Z Uprising can be withdrawn and submit a report with recommendations.     

Similarly, a decision was taken to study the previous investigation reports in connection with the Narayanhiti Royal Palace massacre that occurred two decades ago on 19 Jestha 2058 BS, and proceed with further investigation as required.     

He stated a Sensitive Information Vigilance Team (SIVT) will be formed within the security agencies to monitor and take action to prevent the leakage of sensitive information from the Ministry of Home Affairs and security agencies.     

Minister Gurung has also decided to strengthen and make the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) under the Nepal Police more effective, to direct for the swift conclusion of ongoing investigation files, and to form specialized groups within the CIB to investigate heinous cases such as serious economic and organized crimes according to the nature of the cases.(RSS)
