Communications Minister urges CAN Federation to come up with working paper on AI issues

Kathmandu, July 19: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has urged the Computer Association Nepal (CAN) Federation to come up with a working paper on the matters of Artificial Intelligence (AI).     

At a discussion with a delegation of the CAN Federation at the Ministry on Friday, Minister Gurung, also the government spokesperson, expressed the government readiness to talk on necessary policy matters.     

"Please come up with a working paper on the issues related to artificial intelligence. The government is ready to discuss on policy matters", Minister Gurung said.     

In course of the discussion with the delegation headed by Federation President Ranjeet Kumar Poddar, the Minster stressed the need to embrace the revolution evolved in the information technology sector as the foundation for country's prosperity.     

The government, according to Minister Gurung, has anticipated cooperation from all sides for this. The government would advance future policy and management functions taking into consideration the emerging challenges of IT revolution and AI use, Minister Gurung added.     

He recalled his decision to form a task force to restructure the agencies concerning information technology by reforming the 'Digital Nepal Framework' in course of assuming the office.     

Similarly, he said the government is private sector-friendly and was willing to collaborate to bring positive results in the country.     

Federation President Poddar, General Secretary Chiranjibi Adhikari and other office-bearers were present on the occasion. The delegation drew attention of the government towards the implementation of the budget in the information technology sector and its effectiveness.(RSS)
