Mid-hill highway obstructed
Meanwhile, the incessant rainfall
occurred for some days has triggered a landslide, causing obstruction on the
Mid-Hill Highway.
The landslide occurred at
Bayaldanda of Kathekhola rural municipality in the district obstructed the
highway, a national pride project. The obstruction has disrupted vehicular
movement to and from Purba Rukum, Paschim Rukum and Jajarkot districts,
according to Deputy Superintendent of Police in district, Bijay Yadav.
Similarly, Baglung bazaar has been
waterlogged due to heavy rains occurred since Wednesday evening. The floods
emanated from the highway inundated the market places.
Inundation in the marketplace has
caused huge loss.
As the retention wall of dumping
site breached, it has littered the Kaligandaki corridor, spreading horrible
stench.
The landfill site is on the bank of
Kathekhola stream, which got its wall damaged with floods. Although efforts are
made to remove the garbage from roadway, vehicular movement is yet to be
normalized.
The retention wall of landfill site
was breached due to huge pile of garbage soaked with rains.
With this, people have been
demanding the management of garbage far from the Baglung bazaar. A driver Bir
Bahadur Pun said it was sickening to travel by the reeking roads and bazaar. He
blamed the municipality had played down the health of thousands of passengers
and local people. (RSS)
