By Our Correspondent,Humla, Apr. 14: A significant milestone has been achieved in Namkha Rural Municipality-6 as vaccination against measles and rubella has been completed for 100 per cent of the children.

This achievement was made possible following the opening of a footpath from Nara Lake to Limi, enabling the delivery of vaccines to the health post in Limi.

Gorkha Bhandari, the in-charge of the health post, reported that thirteen children aged between nine months and five years received the measles and rubella vaccines. This number corresponds to the total number of children in this age group within the targeted villages. The accessibility facilitated by the opening of the 4,600-meter-high Nara Lake road to Limi allowed the timely delivery of vaccines.

Across three villages in Limi, namely Thiel, Halji, and Jang, thirteen children received vaccinations over two days. The vaccination drive, completed within this timeframe, saw nine boys and three girls vaccinated on the first day, followed by one boy on the second day. Furthermore, the accessibility provided by the newly opened road has facilitated the administration of routine vaccinations for children in Limi, ensuring continued healthcare provision.

In Humla district, the vaccination campaign took place from February 28 to March 8, while in the other five wards of Namkha Rural Municipality, it occurred from March 14  to 20, covering a broader demographic area.
