Police urge locals to markHoli in dignified manner

BY SIRAJ KHANNepalgunj, Mar. 23: The  District  Police  Office  (DPO)  of   Banke has said that legal actions will be taken against those who forcefully throw  water  and  colour  and  misbe-have  others  in  the  name  of   the  Holi  festival.

Issuing  a  public  notice,  the  DPO  of   Banke  has  urged  one  and  to  all  cele-brate the Holi, the festival of  colour, in a dignified manner. 

The DPO has urged people to observe the festival in a dignified and restrained manner. The police will take action as per the law if  anyone is found forcibly painting,  throwing  water  balloons  or  misbehaving with anyone in the name of  the festival, it read.

Police  have  urged  everyone  not  to  drive  after  drinking  alcohol  during  the  festival,  not  to  consume  excessive  alcohol  on  the  pretext  of   celebrating  festivals and not to do any indecent and wild acts. Police have also requested people to inform the nearest police office or dis-trict police office, Banke, if  anyone does any offensive act.

Subash    Chandra    Bohora,    Chief     and  Superintendent  of     Police  (SP)  of   the  District  Police  Office,  Banke,  has  urged  all  the  people  of   the  district  to  celebrate the Holi festival in a dignified and peaceful manner with goodwill and love.SP  Bohora  said  that  strict  instruc-tions  have  been  given  to  those  people  who drive vehicles drinking alcohol, do not wear helmets and carry passengers exceeding the capacity.

 “CCTV cameras have been installed in different parts of  the city. We will be continuously  monitoring  public  activ-ities through the cameras, said police. The police will set up checkpoints at various  places  to  make  Holi  dignified,  safe and civilised.
