By Siraj Khan,Nepalgunj, Mar. 18: Over 60 surgeons from across the country have gathered in Nepalgunj under the leadership of the Association of Spine Surgeons of Nepal (ASSN) to share ideas and research on new developments in spine-related treatment.
According to the ASSN, it was the first time in Nepal that spine surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, anaesthesiologists, radiologists and neurosurgeons gathered for such a discussion.
“The surgeons came to Nepalgunj to discuss several spine-related injuries and problems. Panel discussions were also organised. We also talked about future challenges in the sector,” said Dr. Prakash Bahadur Thapa, an orthopaedic surgeon and Lumbini Province co-ordinator of ASSN.
The major focus of the programme was to share development and experience in the field of spine-related medicine. “The surgeons in the gathering echoed the essentiality of training more and more doctors outside the Kathmandu Valley on spine-related injuries,” said Dr. Thapa.
Over a dozen senior surgeons of Nepal also presented their cases to share different experiences while treating spine cases. The surgeons have expected the gathering to pave the way to improve spine-related treatment throughout the country.
