Works to upgrade Rani Lake Park begin

By Siraj Khan,Nepalgunj, Mar. 16: A process has started to upgrade Rani Lake Park located in Nepalgunj-8 by constructing additional infrastructure and expanding the facilities. 

According to Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, the construction of additional infrastructure and expansion of service facilities in Rani Lake Park, which has emerged as a popular place for domestic tourists, has been started.

Prashant Bista, Mayor of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City, said that the Lumbini Province government tourism division office Banke has started upgrading the Rani Lake area in collaboration with the sub-metropolis by allocating Rs. 4 million.

He said that hundreds of tourists from India also visit Rani Lake Park. So, it has been upgraded by building physical infrastructure and expanding services and facilities in collaboration with the Sub-metropolitan City.

According to Mayor Bista, the Lumbini Province government and sub-metropolitan city are working with priority to add facilities to the historic Rani Lake. 

The Rani Lake Park was renovated and brought into operation by the then Mayor of Nepalgunj, Dr. Dhaval Shumsher Rana five years ago, and present Mayor Bista has also given equal importance to the development of the site, said locals. 

Located in the central part of Nepalgunj city, Rani Lake attracts everyone mainly for boating. A beautiful garden, swings and slides for children, restaurants and other things have been arranged in Rani Lake Park. 

According to Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City, Rani Lake is now operating in a contract. 

Kamaruddin Rai, Deputy Mayor of the Sub-Metropolitan City, said that the sub-metropolis had not compromised to expand and develop the historic Rani Lake as a tourist area.
