'Both ruling and opposition parties should show initiative to make parliament vibrant'

Kathmandu, March 13: Lawmaker Asha BK said the ruling and opposition parties should show proactive initiative to make the parliament vibrant.    

Talking to RSS, lawmaker BK said there has been a lot of change in the awareness level of the people yesterday and today. "People are closely watching the performance of lawmakers in parliament. The role of parliament is becoming more effective".    

She shared all the questions raised by the lawmakers in the House have not been implemented, yet pressure has been exerted on the political leadership and the government leadership to address them.

Lawmakers have a role to play in making laws as well as solving the problems of the people by taking them to the government. "The work has not been done to make the people feel it. The main issue is to give hope to the people, increase credibility towards political parties and present people's issues in parliament".    

Public interest and public sentiment have been raised in the parliament, but due to lack of address, there is a state ssof frustration among the people, she reflected.    
BK said even the congress-led government could not play an effective role in law making after the dissolution of the parliament.    

"The government has completed one yea following last election. Only two bills were enacted. However, some bills are under discussion in parliament. The pace of law-making has not been as fast as it should be".    

Laws should not only be made, but they should also be implemented effectively, she said, adding the Constitution and laws gave authority to the local level but the local governments also failed to perform effectively.    

"Along with rights, corruption also reached the villages", she commented.    

Lawmaker BK further said all parties should unite to make the country prosperous and rekindle hope among the people.

"Whether it is the ruling party or the opposition, the parties should not delay the formulation of laws related to the implementation of federalism", she asserted.
