Edition of Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament-2024 has kicked
off.
The Cricket Tournament was jointly
inaugurated by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar Hussain Hashmi, Binaya Raj Pandey,
former President of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and Ujjal Raj Bhandary,
Deputy CEO of Himalayan Bank Limited, on Saturday.
Addressing the ceremony, Binaya Raj Pandey and Ujjal Raj Bhandary appreciated the Embassy for successfully organizing the event every year since 2014, according to the press release issued by the Embassy on Saturday, March 2.
They highlighted the potential of
cricket and sports in bringing the youth of the two countries together. They also
lauded the efforts of Pakistan for promoting sports and education to enhance healthy
activities amongst youth, read the press release.
In his remarks, Ambassador Abrar H
Hashmi said that the cricket is not just a sport, but it also serves as a
platform to bring people together and fosters spirit of camaraderie and
teamwork. He further stated that this event would contribute to further
deepening the friendly ties between the two countries especially amongst youth.
The ambassador thanked the distinguished guests, organising committee and the Himalayan Bank Limited for their support in organizing the event, according to the press release.
This year twelve cricket teams are participating in the nine-day event. The Tournament is scheduled to conclude on 10th March 2024. The event will be streamed live on Nepali channel including Mithila Nepal TV.
