Loyang Sherpa wins World Rising Star

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 25: Loyang Sherpa emerged winner in the ‘World Rising Star 2024’ a children's competition held in Georgia.

Loyang, a seventh-grader at Trijyoti Secondary School in Kapan, clinched the top title by surpassing contestants from 40 countries. 

The song ‘Resham Firiri’ he sang in the talent round secured him the 'Talent Round' award in his category.

During the competition, Angel Babu Kattel received the ‘Talent Award,’ and Sanista Regmi was honoured with the ‘Eurosia’ Award. Following their participation, they returned to Kathmandu on Tuesday morning.

At Tribhuvan International Airport, Loyang expressed his happiness at winning the top title. 

“I have graced the stage in numerous places, which is why I felt no fear standing on the stage in Georgia. I was confident that I would secure the top title,” he remarked.

Adorned in traditional Sherpa attire during the cultural round Sherpa mentioned making many friends, inviting them to visit Nepal.

Prasun Jung Pokhrel, the winner of ‘World Rising Star 2023,’ attended the competition as a special guest, expressing joy at Nepal securing the top title once again.

Soniya GR, the head of Pariwartan Event House, which facilitated the contestants’ journey to Georgia, expressed pride when the winner of the programme ‘DSA Star’ achieved the top category award in the 

international competition.
