Army's photo and unit-centric exhibition kicks off

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 24: The Nepali Army has organised a photo and unit-centric exhibition at the Army Headquarters on the occasion of an upcoming Army Day.  Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) General Prabhu Ram Sharma inaugurated the exhibition with photographs, weapons, and equipment reflecting the activities of the army from the past to the present amidst a special function organised on Tuesday.  

The exhibition will last for five days.

Visitors gracing the exhibition can get information about military uniforms, bands, air service, cavalry, forest and mountain warfare, Special Forces, national parks and wildlife reserves, and peacekeeping missions.

Development, construction, disaster management, sports and military schools and other activities and audio-visual materials run by the army are included in the exhibition. The Directorate of Public Relations and Information (DPR&I) of the Army Headquarters is coordinating the exhibition, according to Brigadier General and Spokesperson for the Army Headquarters Krishna Prasad Bhandari. 

The exhibition is organised to provide the citizens with the opportunity to closely observe the various activities related to the army until January 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm. The exhibition aims to provide information about various activities of the Nepal Army.

Director of DPR&I Bhandari expressed his belief that the general citizens will get information about arms, clothing and related military materials from the exhibition which includes the main work done in the course of duty, covering the glorious history of the army.

Meanwhile, in the photo competition organised by the Nepali Army on the same occasion, the Ramban Company was declared first, the Special Forces Brigade the second and the Srimehar Battalion the third. 

In the competition, the No. 17 Brigade, Ranasher Battalion, Khadgadal Battalion, Bhawani Box Battalion, Arjunban, Bhagwati Dal Battalion and Military School, Pokhara received consolation prizes.

Siddhartha Maharjan won the first, Safal Prakash Shrestha won the second and Varsha Shah won the third prize in the non-military category photo competition. Chief of Army Staff Sharma awarded cash prizes and certificates to them.
