By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu,Jan.1: Police have released 73 protestors who were arrested during the demonstration at Balkumari in Lalitpur on Friday.
Deputy Inspector General and Spokesperson for the Nepal Police Headquarters, Kuber Kadayat said that those who were arrested during the demonstration demanding to be allowed to fill out Employment Permit System (EPS) language test applications to go to Korea have been released on Sunday.
According to DIG Kadayat, all those who were put in various police stations after the demonstration were released.
He said, “All those arrested during the demonstration have been released and it has been decided not to file any case against them.”
They were arrested and detained by the police on charge of setting fire to the vehicle of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Prakash Jwala and vandalising public property on Friday.
Two youths, 23-year-old Sujan Rawat of Mahabu Rural Municipality-6 of Dailekh, and 22-year-old Birendra Shah of Chowrapati Rural Municipality-1 of Acham, died during the demonstration.
The government has also decided to provide relief amount of Rs. 1 million each to the families of Rawat and Shah who lost their lives.
The government has also expressed its sorrow and taken departmental action on those officials including CDO Rudra Prasad Pandit and SSP Siddhi Bikram Shah of Lalitpur, for not being able to properly control the demonstration.
