By Our Correspondent,Pokhara, Dec. 3: Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) General Prabhu Ram Sharma has said that the production of skilled manpower who can contribute to the national development is the need of the hour.
General Sharma made this remark while speaking at a function of the 19th anniversary of Military Residential School at Phulbari in Pokhara on Friday.
CoAS Sharma said, "Education can be used to prepare capable citizens who are devoted to the nation and nationalism through education and they are future leader of Nepal.”
For this, students should be motivated towards research and investigation-based education. He also said that the purpose of education cannot be achieved without skilled teachers and competent leadership.
General Sharma said that the main responsibility of the Nepali Army is to protect the nation and in order to support the national development, the Nepali Army's welfare plan has been investing in areas like education, health and serving the general public, beneficiaries and common citizens.
In order to contribute to the educational sector of the country, the Nepali Army has established colleges, and schools in different parts of the country through NA's welfare schemes, he said.
On the occasion, Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality, Dhanraj Acharya was honoured with the Commander-in-Chief Commendation certificate by the Army Chief.
