By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 30: A play ‘Kaal’ (Death) is set to be staged at Arohan Gurukul in Kathmandu.
Directed by Ram Bhajan Kamat, the play is scheduled to be staged from November 30 to December 16. The play delves into the profound themes of death and the cyclic nature of time.
This theatrical production aims to explore the intricacies of the human experience, where the audience may find their reflections in its narrative.
‘Kaal’ advocates for the psychological treatment of individuals grappling with mental health challenges stemming from natural, social, and economic adversities, particularly in the contemporary global context caused by economic recession.
Crafted in the form of a theatrical genre, the play delves into the psyche of those who perceive themselves as vulnerable and contemplate the path of suicide.
Ram Bhajan Kamat, both the writer and director of the play, said that he wrote the play under the influence of Shankar Kharel’s story ‘Kaal’.
Sharing his experience while making the drama, Kamat said that the duality of roles as a writer and director posed a challenge to him as he grappled between artistic exploration and narrative development.
Sunil Pokharel, Prabin Khatiwada, Chandra Nepali, Nita Rai, Keshav Shahi, Ashish Ghimire, Arjun Siwakoti, Sandesh Karki, Roshan Chand, Salina Chhetri, and Surbhi Kamat are the artistes while Subhas Timalsina serves as the assistant director in the play.
Utsav Budhathoki is responsible for the sound and music design while Nita Rai and Salina Chhetri handle costume design.
