By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 31: A three-day painting exhibition "Our Creation" began at the hall of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in Kathmandu on Monday. Paintings drawn by disabled people from Nepal and Japan are put in display.
The exhibition is jointly organised by the National Association of Physical Disabled Nepal, Hosei University of Japan and Nepal Academy of Fine Arts.
A Japanese artist has used rice grains and made traditional dresses used by Japanese women, a rooster, a village and mountains.
He has made a very attractive picture of traditional Japanese village houses and villages full of natural beauty using rice grains.
Nepali artist Pratigya Shakya has also expressed the hardships faced by disabled people in various places such as schools, hospitals and other places due to lack of physical access through his creations.
Pictures of Ganesha, who is worshipped only on the 1st day of Baisakh month in Bhaktapur's Durbar Square, rice pudding being offered to Buddha, Pashupatinath temple, Kumari and many other gods and goddesses and religious stories are displayed in the exhibition.
Inaugurating the exhibition on Monday, the Chancellor of the NAFA, Naradamani Hartamchhali, expressed that fine arts would make people of all abilities self-reliant.
Speaking at the programme, he promised to include marginalised, endangered groups and disabled people of Nepal in the future action plan of the NAFA.
In the exhibition, the creations of Nepali artists such as Raghav Pokharel, Sundar Shrestha, Rashmi Shakya, and Ramesh Barahi have been displayed.
Seven paintings made by a Japanese artist are also showcased.
