Nepali Army, APF begin free bus service to their staff in Dashain

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 19: The Nepali Army and the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal have managed free of cost transport services for the security personnel going home during Dashain festival. 

The Nepali Army and the APF have said that services have been provided to their staff members for comfortable and safe travel. 

The Nepali Army has provided air and ground transportation services in concessions, while the APF has said that transportation services are provided free of charge. 

According to the Directorate of Military Public Relations and Information (DPR&I) of the Nepali Army, it has been said that concessional transport facilities have been provided to the serving members of the Nepali Army and their dependent families who are going home at Bada Dashain this year.

The Nepali Army and the APF have said that services have been provided to their staff members for comfortable and safe travel. 

According to the Directorate, 421 people have been served so far by means of vehicles (buses) in places where the road network has reached. Similarly, 615 families were served by providing air-transport facility where there is no road connectivity.  So far, the NA has provided both air and road transportation facility to 1,026 staff members.

The army will provide the facility till October 19. 

Likewise, the APF has said that the service, which was started free of cost, will be operated until October 18. 

According to Spokesperson and Senior Superintendent of Police Rajendra Khadka, APF has operated two buses for free on the occasion of Bada Dashain, Tihar and Chhath for serving and retired Armed Police personnel and their families.

During the festive season, one bus leaving from the APF Headquarters will provide service from Kathmandu, Narayangadh, Butwal, Bhaluwang to Gaddachouki in Kanchanpur, while the other bus will provide service from Narayangadh, Bardibas, Saptari, Pakali to Kakarbhitta in Jhapa, said SSP Khadka. 

Earlier, the APF had operated a free bus service within the Kathmandu Valley keeping in mind the convenience of the public on the occasion of Bada Dashain.
