By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 14: A meeting of the central work execution committee of the ruling Nepali Congress has concluded without taking a concrete decision over the row of appointment of the Chief Minister in Koshi Province.
The meeting that was held at party president Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Dhumbarahi on Friday failed to reach any conclusion after rival leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala did not attend the meeting.
NC publicity department chief Meen Bishwokarma informed that the meeting would continue on Saturday.
He said Dr. Koirala would attend Saturday’s meeting.
In the Koshi province, CPN-Maoist Centre leader Indra Angbo has claimed for the post of Chief Minister in the backing of the ruling coalition. However, Dr. Koirals’s loyal Kedar Karai also claimed the post with the backing of the CPN-UML.
After Karki submitted his claim for the post of the Chief Minister against the decision the ruling coalition parties, Deuba and other leaders of the ruling parties are under pressure to settle the dispute.
Meanwhile, according to our Biratnagar correspondent, after the deadline to submit the claim for the post of the Chief Minister expired on Friday evening, the Provincial Assembly members gathered at the Office of the Province Chief Parshuram Khapung, exerting pressure on him to appoint Kedar Karki as new Chief Minister.
All 47 Assembly members who backed Karki’s candidacy reached the Office of the Province Chief urging him to appoint Karki as Chief minister.
Karki of NC was backed by 39 Assembly members of the UML and eight of the Nepali Congress.
