Visit duration of domestic tourists in Sudurpashchim Province stands 2.6 days

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 13: A study has shown that the stay duration of domestic tourists in Sudurpashchim Province is 2.6 days.

According to a special study on the possibility and challenges of religious tourism in Sudurpashchim Province conducted by Nepal Rastra Bank, it has been found that domestic tourists spend around Rs. 16,500 while visiting the province for 2.6 days.

According to the report, domestic tourists visiting religious sites in the province spend an average of Rs. 16,567.

Tourists spend this money on hotel accommodation, transportation, food and gifts.

The payment to the hotel by tourists is done in cash.

The study has pointed out that 38.30 per cent of the total tourists pay the hotel in cash. Similarly, it is seen that 27.66 per cent of payments are made through QR, 12.77 per cent are made through internet banking and the remaining payments are made through card and digital means.

Out of the total travel expenses of the domestic tourists who participated in the survey, it was seen that 46 per cent was spent on transportation.

Out of total expenses, 26 per cent, 16 per cent, and 6 per cent were spent on food and accommodation in hotels, worship materials, and gifts respectively, while other expenses were 6 per cent.

The study pointed out that the main occupation of 46.67 per cent of domestic tourists who visit religious places is employees and the main occupation of 21.11 per cent of tourists is business.

The report showed that 54.44 per cent of domestic tourists visit religious places along with their family members.

Similarly, 22 per cent of tourists visit in groups other than family members.

According to the study, 36.67 per cent of domestic tourists belonging to the age group of 26 to 35 years visit religious places. 

According to the report, 66.67 per cent of the tourists who participated in the survey visited the religious place for the purpose of fulfilling their vow/promise.

The monthly average occupancy of hotels in Sudurpahchim is 40 per cent.

Among the hotels, only  42 per cent of them are planning to expand their facilities and 39 per cent of the hotels are planning to expand their capacity, according to the study.

Similarly, only 15 per cent hotels are planning to operate the hotel as it is in the current situation, while 4 per cent of the businessmen are planning to close the hotel business, the study showed.
