Handicraft items made by HIV infected and human trafficking survivors

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct.13: The Dashain Mahotsav has started at the Manjushree Park, Chobhar, f Kirtipur Municipality, on the occasion of the upcoming  Dashain festival.

The objective of the Mahotsav is to promote handicraft items made by the HIV-infected and human trafficking survivor women.   

The event is jointly organised by Rajani Handicraft and Training Centre and Santi Foundation with the support of Kirtipur Municipality.

“Our aim to promote, sell and provide a market to the handicraft items made by HIV-infected and human trafficking survivor women at a reasonable price on the occasion of Dashian festival”, said Rajani Raj Chitrakar, the proprietor of Rajani Handicraft and Training Centre. 

Sanjamaya Tamang (Santi Lama), founder of Santi Foundation said, “It is our first attempt to organise Dashian Mahotsav to provide market for handicrafts items and sell them at 

reasonable prices”.    

The 10-day Dashain Mahotsav will continue till October 21. There will be live musical performances, around 100 stalls of handicrafts materials, Thakali, Newari and other varieties of food items, clothes, shoes and other items at a 

reasonable price.
