By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 7: Pahichan Puraskar Kosh (Identity Award Fund) has nominated eight books for Pahichan Award for the year 2079 BS, previous year of Nepali calendar.
According to a statement issued by the founder of the prize Naresh Kangmang Rai, a meeting held on Thursday made public the list of the best eight books. The books were selected from the registered ones in the Kosh and were published within the year 2079 BS (mid-April 2022 to mid-April 2023). It is informed that one book from the list will be announced as the winner out of the eight.
The list of the nominated books includes novels ‘Thangra’ by Pragati Rai and 'Atowoda' by Januka Khatiwada, poetry 'Rasia Raag' by Karuna Rai, 'Kami' by Manjul Miteri and 'Ma dwara Mero Nirman' by Parajit Pomu, and non-fiction 'Junction Pipal Bot' by Prakash Guragain, 'Tin Pharak Bisaya' written jointly by Sribhakta Khanal and Khemraj Ranabhat and 'Sunyako Mulya' by Dr. Navaraj KC, all non-fictions.
Nine books have received Pahichan Award so far while authour and civil activist Khagendra Sangraula was awarded with Pahichan Honour. The amount of Pahichan Award is Rs. 402,002. The award and the honour aim to boost identity politics through literature.
