By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 29: Renowned Nepali writer Dr. Madhav Prasad Pokhrel, Indian author Prof. Awadhesh Pradhan and Indian actress and writer Divya Dutta will be decorated with ‘Yashaswi Sahitya Sanman’ award this year.
Likewise, this year, the first Nepal ‘Yashaswi Award’ will also be presented to celebrated actress Manisha Koirala.
The Yashaswi Sahitya Sanman is an initiative of the KLF, in collaboration with Nepal’s Yashaswi Prangya Pratistan.
Previous recipients of the ‘Yashaswi Sahitya Sanman’ include legendary figures like Nepali writer Satya Mohan Joshi and Indian writer Ashok Vajpeyi.
The award’s main objective is to recognise individuals who have made significant contributions to elevating Nepal’s global presence. The awardees will be honoured at the 2nd Surya Nepal Kathmandu Kalinga Literary Festival, as confirmed by KLF’s founder, Rashmi Ranjan Parida.
This festival, which is a key literary event globally, originating from India, is scheduled to run from September 1 to September 3 in Kathmandu.
The festival is expected to witness participation from over 400 writers representing countries such as Nepal, India, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Apart from literature, the participants can look forward to a diverse showcase of music, dance, poetry, and other South Asian art forms.
Rashmi Ranjan Parida said that this year’s edition of KLF Kathmandu aims to fortify cultural, spiritual, and literary conversations within the South Asian region. The festival also intends to highlight Nepal’s growing influence as a focal point for South Asian discourse and global thought.
A diverse range of topics will be explored during the festival, encompassing areas like South Asian art, cinema, journalism, tourism, politics, and of course, literature. Vibrant debates and dialogues on contemporary matters will be highlights of the event.
