Kharel’s Rani Talau receives award of 1000 US dollars

By Our Correspondent,Nepalgunj, July 17: A famous novel “Rani Talau” (Queen Pond) by Kalpana Kharel, a novelist from Nepalgunj, has been awarded the ‘ANESAS Dilliram Timsina Best Novel Award’ by the International Nepali Literary Society (ANESAS).

This prestigious award, established by Suman Timsina under ANESAS, is given every two years and carries a cash prize of 1000 US dollars. Kalpana Kharel expressed her excitement upon hearing the news that her novel ‘Rani Talau’ has been chosen for this year’s award.

In  “Rani Talau,” Kharel, a literary writer, skillfully utilises wisdom and morality as weapons. 

Senior playwright Sanat Kumar Regmi praised the novel’s theme, which delves deep into social conflicts and struggles. 

Kharel’s novel skillfully exposes societal distortions and disharmony, while also illuminating the way towards righteousness, earning her the prestigious award. Critics have praised the novel for its eloquent portrayal of the immense power of a resolute and unwavering determination.

One of the remarkable aspects of the story is its portrayal of the human soul as being beyond the confines of caste.

 Kalpana Kharel has published a total of seven works, including novels such as “Love in Jerusalem,” “Rani Talau,” “Samalingi Sambandha,” and “Purusha.”

 Additionally, she has released anthology of story “Ragini” and “Kshitij Parika Shabdaharu,” and a song album “Kamana.”
