By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 15: The Government of Nepal has granted permission to the Film Development Board (FDB) to utilise the land in Ward Nos. 10 and 13 of Banepa Municipality in the Kavrepalanchok district to construct an indoor film shooting studio.
Following the decision, Bhuwan KC, chairman of the Film Development Board, expressed his happiness and declared that all Nepali filmmakers had achieved success.
In his statement, KC remarked, “I am extremely delighted today. I believe that this achievement signifies success for all of us filmmakers. Since the day I assumed the position of the chairman of the Film Development Board, I have dedicated myself to the establishment of an indoor shooting studio to propel the Nepali film industry forward.”
He further stated that visiting the construction site of the state-of-the-art studio had been one of the primary objectives during his tenure, and he had engaged in multiple discussions with various agencies, including the Ministry of Forestry.
KC continued, “As film professionals, we wholeheartedly welcome the decision made by the Nepali government, which will benefit the national film industry of Nepal. Alongside the growth and development of our Nepali films, we are also promoting Nepal as an open studio for international filmmakers.”
He expressed his conviction that this development would continue to contribute to the advancement of the industry and conveyed his gratitude to all the government agencies involved in making this decision.
Announcing the decision of the Council of Ministers on Thursday, Communication and Information Technology Minister Rekha Sharma informed that 2.5085 hectares of land of Bahundanda Forest has been provided for the construction of the studio.
