'LTU won't be political recruitment centre'

blog

By Govinda Sharma,Banke, July 4: Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary has asked the Lumbini Technical University (LTU) to play a role in preventing the emigration of youths for higher education.

Addressing the programme organised in Nepalgunj to mark LTU's first anniversary on Monday, Chief Minister Chaudhary, who is also the University's Chancellor, asked LTU management to focus on providing quality and accessible education rather than operating many classes in a hurry.

He said, "There are many universities in Nepal. This should stand out and become a model for them. Foreign students should be enticed to come here to study rather than our students finding reasons to go abroad." He also called LTU the heart of the province.

Chaudhary promised that the University would not face a lack of budget but also promised to not allow it to become a political recruitment centre.

Noting how 100 Bighas of land had been allocated for LTU in Khajura but the federal government was yet to make a formal decision on it, he said that federalism would be truly realised only if the provincial governments were given the authority to decide on matters like this.

Also speaking on the occasion, LTU Vice Chancellor Dr. Binod Prasad Dhakal informed that they planned to begin classes in August.
