By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 4: Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Prakash Saud is leaving for Azerbaijan on Tuesday to participate in the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, the meeting is being convened under the theme of “NAM: United and steadfast in confronting emerging challenges” in Baku on 3-6 July 2023.
Minister Saud is scheduled to address the conference on Wednesday.
During the visit, the Foreign Minister is scheduled to call on high dignitaries of the Government of Azerbaijan as well as meet with participating heads of delegation from various countries on the sidelines of the Meeting.
The Foreign Minister will return to Kathmandu on July 8. Meanwhile, Minister Saud has said that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will pay a visit to China in September. Inaugurating the Kailali district convention of the Nepal Press Union in Dhangadhi on Monday, Minister Saud said that Nepal should take advantage of the Prime Minister’s visit to the northern neighbour.
According to our Dhangadhi correspondent, Minister Saud said that Nepal should derive positive gains from the development made by China.
Stating that the power trade agreement reached between Nepal and India during PM Prachanda’s recent visit to India was a big achievement for Nepal, Minister Saud said we should work to produce power as per the available electricity market.
He also said that a stable foreign policy would be developed by forging a consensus among all political parties.
Stating that Nepal has not joined any military alliance, the Minister reiterated Nepal’s commitment to non-aligned foreign policy.
