By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 3: Kandetar (Barbed Wire), which highlights the importance of securing the international border of Nepal with barbed wire, received a financial grant of Rs. 1 million from the Film Development Board (FDB).
The grant was presented by Communication and Information Technology Minister Rekha Sharma during the 23rd-anniversary function of the board, held on Saturday.
In addition, the board awarded funds to the story of ‘Kandetar’ under the Story Bank (Story Museum) category, recognising it as the best story.
The board had invited submissions for the story bank publicly last year. ‘Kandetar,’ directed and produced by Nawal Khadka, conveys a strong message against foreign interference in Nepal. The film is scheduled to be released in the cinema halls on March 8 next year.
Expressing gratitude for the grant, director and producer Khadka acknowledged the government's support for a film made with patriotic and nationalistic sentiments. He highlighted that the support would play a significant role in promoting indigenous films.
The Board had established the ‘Story Bank’ in 2021 to encourage the production of realistic and artistic films.
