Dikshyan’s MBBS dream fulfilled by Aanbukhaireni

By Amar Raj Naharki,Tanahun, July 2: Dipak Dawadi, a resident of Ward No. 1 of Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality of Tanahun district, was in stress as he had to manage a hefty amount of money to fund his son Dikshyan Dawadi’s MBBS course.

Dikshyan had recently passed the common medical entrance for MBBS. However, lacking enough money, his dream to become a doctor was beyond reach.

But now, his dream was brought within reach by Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality through the local level’s scholarship programme. Aanbukhaireni has an “MBBS/PhD/Plant Science Scholarship for the Poor” programme.

“I was in a very worrisome situation as I did not have enough money to fulfil my son’s dream. I am very grateful to the local level for its generous support through a programme for poor families,” said Dipak.

Dikshyan had applied for the scholarship.  Aanbukhaireni will be providing Rs. 3.5 million in scholarship for Dikshyan’s education. His father received Rs. 1,166,000 as the first instalment.

The scheme, however, is not without strings attached: The rural municipality and the student provided with scholarships sign an agreement to serve the local level in return for the support.

“The student who got the scholarship should serve the local level for a total of three years with a year for free. It is the condition,” said Bishnu Prasad Sharma, chief administrative officer of Aanbukhaireni.

The first instalment was provided to Dikshyan by Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality Chairman Shukra Chuman on Friday. “The scholarship is a part of our aim to generate qualified manpower from our local level,” said Chuman.
