By Our Correspondent,Kalikot, June 30: Tilagufa Municipality in Kalikot district has provided uniforms to the students of the community schools.
Two hundred and eighty-six students of Kalika Secondary School, Ranchuli-4 were provided with uniforms.
According to the Municipality, uniforms were distributed to the students with an investment of Rs. 331,000 under the Poverty Alleviation and Deputy Mayor with Health Programme.
Deputy Mayor Mahendra Bahadur Shahi said that under the programme, uniforms were distributed to help poor children of the school during a function on Thursday.
He said as the income of most of the parents is low, and they could not provide uniforms to their wards, the municipality distributed uniforms.
Khagendra Bahadur Shahi, the headmaster of the school, said that as most of the students of the schools are from the poor Dalit community, he sought help from the municipality to encourage them to regularly attend their classes.
He said the school has no resources. When parents are forced to buy clothes, they have no source of income. He said that because of all these problems, he has sought the help of the local government
Headmaster Shahi thanked Mayor Shankar Prasad Upadhyaya and Deputy Mayor Mahendra Shahi for arranging the uniforms for the students.
The local government has been conducting various programmes to attract students to government schools.
In Tilagufa Municipality, with the help of Save the Children, Kirdarc Nepal has been conducting extra classes along with providing educational materials and managing school classrooms.
