Annapurna Rural Municipality Ward No. 1 Doba and Ward No. 2 Bhurung Tatopani had been locked in dispute for years regarding the use of settlements, arable land, forest and grazing areas in the border areas of both wards.
Amrit Subedi, the chief administrative officer, said that the dispute was resolved by a meeting with public representatives at the rural municipality office on Sunday.
Chairman Bharat Kumar Pun, Vice- Chairman Divakumari Tilija Pun, Chief Administrative Officer Amrit Subedi, Doba Ward chair Dilip Garbuja, Bhurung Ward Chair Om Phagami, and the people's representatives of both wards have resolved the border dispute through mutual agreement.
During the 2046-047 BS, when the village development committee was divided, there was a dispute between the residents of the two villages regarding the inclusion of the pasture and forest area of Sunari village, land and gazing area in the map of Bhurung Tatopani due to a technical error.
Locals of Doba staged a protest at the office of Annapurna Rural Municipality on June 8 demanding to resolve the dispute.
Chief Administrative Officer Subedi said that it has been decided to proceed with the process of preparing a new map according to the border that is being used regardless of what is on the map. They are also implementing the agreement made earlier on November 5, 2017, so that the consumers of the forest in the border area will enjoy where they can.
Om Phagami, Ward Chair of Bhurung, said that it agreed to correct the errors of the map and make a new one.
For this task, they will proceed with the federal government and the budget allocation for the development plans of the two wards will not be based on geography, but on the basis of the current ratio.
