By Our Correspondent,Bajhang, June 23: Bajhang district is in mourning after the death of Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Prithvi Bahadur Singh of Sudurpaschim Province government in a jeep accident in Bajhang on Tuesday.
Late Minister Singh was visiting Bajhang for the first time after his appointment as a minister. Locals, who were excited to welcome Singh, are now in sorrow. Singh from Nepali Congress was in politics for a long time and was very popular in the district due to his involvement in various social activities.
Political leaders like Bhanubhakta Joshi, Ain Mahara, Bhim Bhandari and others said that the district had lost a promising leader.
In memory of Singh, businesses across the district were closed from Wednesday morning to 3 pm, as were all government offices. The national flag in the district was flown at half-mast.
It has been informed that late Minister Singh and his wife Amrita Devi Singh, who also died in the accident, will be cremated on Saturday at the Seti River located nearby headquarters Chainpur.
According to family sources, late Minister Singh's second son was in Israel for employment, so the funeral would be conducted according to Hindu tradition only after his arrival. Similarly, his youngest son was to arrive in Bajhang also from Israel on Thursday.
Singh's body was brought to Bajhang by a Nepali Army helicopter on Wednesday and is now being kept in the district hospital.
