By Chitra Mijar,Sindhupalchowk, June 22: The physical progress of a new building for Chautara Hospital, the district hospital of Sindhupalchowk being built under the Chinese grant, stands at 65 per cent, officials informed.
According to them, the construction is moving forward at the desired pace.
Hebei Construction Group, a Chinese construction company, is constructing a new building of international standards.
"The construction of the three-and-a-half-storey building will be completed before February 2024 and will be handed it over to the Government of Nepal within March 2024," said Guo Baoqing, an engineer of the construction company.
The hospital building construction had begun on September 9, 2022.
The building will accommodate 39 beds and have more than 50 rooms allocated for consultation, emergency, OPD, operation, and lab among others. Ramps and lift systems will also be installed to make it disabled-friendly.
The building will also have a cafeteria, library, breastfeeding room, and conference room.
Iron, steel, and wood-related items required for the hospital construction were imported from China.
The Chinese government will also provide necessary medical equipment – including an ECG machine and automatic blood analyser machine – and the furniture required for the hospital operation.
The hospital is being constructed under the design of Quyuan Corporation through the Agency for International Economic Corporation under the Chinese Ministry for Commerce.
Locals of Sindhupalchowk said that they were waiting for the well-equipped hospital to come into operation in the Himalayan district.
