BY A STAFF REPORTER,Bhaktapur, June 15: Writer Hari Bahadur Shrestha's new anthology of sociological essays titled "Samaj Bikasko Ek Jhalak (A Glimpse of Social Development)" has been published. Hari Bahadur Shrestha is the literary name of communist leader Narayan Man Bijukchhe 'Rohit' who is the chairman of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party.
Senior advocate Krishna Prasad Bhandari, writer Shrestha himself and historian Bishwa Mohan Joshi jointly released the book amid a function at Khwopa Engineering College, Bhaktapur.
Writer Shrestha informed that the essays were written some 45 years ago while he was in exile in India during the Panchayat rule.
Published by Shrasta Samaj, the book has 154 pages consisting of essays under topics such as the origin of society, the chronicle of development, the society in the slavery era, the feudal society, the capitalist society, the workers' movement and so on.
Chairman of Creators' Society Laxman Raj Joshi asserted that the essays were the output of a serious study and research of the writer that was written for the purpose to provoke a movement against Panchayat rule. 'Though the publication of the book took a long time, I hope it can still be relevant for some or many," he said.
