Little Theatre Garage concludes

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 26: The 9th edition of Little Theatre Garage, an acting and drama workshop for children, concluded staging various theatrical performances on Monday.

Theater Mall and Theatre Centre for Children concluded their two-week workshop by organising a special programme on the last day on Monday. 

At the final programme, the children staged a play 'Cinderella' prepared by them from story-telling through puppets. Also, the children performed a solo impromptu performance on the given topic.

Kedar Shrestha, the mentor and art director of the workshop, told the parents gathered to observe the special progarmme that they introduced the theatre arts and skills to the participating children on the basis of 'Bhadakuti' (a type of game played by children that involves utensils). 

He said, "For two weeks, the children not only have enjoyed the theatre, they are coming home with many things. Be ready to welcome your children.”

Likewise, Sapana Sharma of Nepal Japan Children's Library, and Jagat Bahadur Maharjan, Principal of Rarahil Memorial School, said that such a workshop for children was a completely new idea and mentioned that the role of the workshop was to make life beautiful through art.

With the aim of helping their personal and personality development through art, Little Theater Garage has been established for children in the age group of 6 to 14 years.

 In the Garage, there were activities like drama, acting, storytelling, public speaking, painting, puppet making and puppet storytelling, origami, dance, voice and speech, creative writing, and creative thinking.

The organisers have also informed that the 10th edition of Little Theatre Garage will be held on April 4, next year.
