Halkara organising letter writing competition

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr, 24: The movie 'Halkara' is hosting a letter-writing competition, in which the contestants must write a letter to someone who is away from their life, someone they long for, someone they yearned for but couldn't have, or someone they will always cherish in their memories.

According to the film unit, the first, second and third winners will be awarded Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 receptively. 

Poet and writer Viplob Pratik, filmmaker Manoj Babu Panta and actor Mahesh Tripathi will be the judges of the competition. 

The judges will evaluate the letters based on creativity, originality, adherence to the theme, grammar, spelling, and overall impact of the letters to determine the winners.

The letters must be sent between April 23 to May 3, and must be received in the designated post box by May 8, informed the film unit. 

The winners will be announced on May 10.

Director Bikram Sapkota stated that the main purpose of the competition was to provide a medium to express emotions and feelings that are difficult to put into words. 

'Halkara' depicts the impact of foreign employment in Nepali society through the perspective of a letter carrier in a rural village, with actor Mahesh Tripathi playing the role of a postman.

 The movie is a collaboration between Kalipaar and Icefall Productions and has been awarded for best actor, cinematography, and best movie in various international film festivals.

Bikram Sapkota is the writer, director, and editor of the film, starring Mahesh Tripathi and Binita Thapamgar. 

The movie is co-written by Viplob Pratik and Akash Baral. Umesh Tamang, Pashupati Rai, Sarda Giri, Bishnu, Bhakta Adhikari and Deepak Chhetri are other actors in the movie.

The film is scheduled to be released across the country on May 12.
