59 thousand Nepalis working abroad covered in Social Security in a month

Kathmandu, April 20: The number of Nepalis working abroad who have been covered in social security fund has increased to around 59,000.

Vice Spokesperson of Social Security Fund Rohit Regmi informed that 58,986 Nepali workers involved in foreign jobs have been registered in the fund.

Around 405,000 workers from formal sector have been contributing to the fund thus far.

The Government started to include Nepalis employed and self-employed in foreign countries in social security fund programme from 22 March 2023. 

The Government has made it compulsory for Nepalis working abroad to join the social security fund.

Vice-Spokesperson Regmi shared that a contribution of Rs. 85 million has thus far come from Nepalis employed in the foreign countries. (translated from RSS Nepali news)
