Chandrapur (Rautahat), May 27: An agricultural weather station has been set up at Dumariya of Chandrapur municipality-9 in Rautahat district. Mayor of Chandrapur municipality, Sanjay Kumar Kafle, inaugurated the station on Tuesday.
The station would provide various weather-related early warning to farmers. Various information like the atmospheric temperature, rainfall, speed of wind are collected in the station.
The station would provide information on various issues like when to plant crops, when to irrigate and when to use fertilizer and pesticides based on weather condition.
President of the District Coordination Committee, Rautahat, Ram Ayodhyay Ray Yadav, shared that such type of station is necessary to farmers in every local level in Rautahat.
Similarly, Chief of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Madhes province, Rajeev Kumar Jha, opined that such station should be set up in every five kilometer distance. The station would also play significant role in conservation of forest area and infrastructure development, he underlined.
Jha added that in current situation, weather forecast accuracy from the station is 80 per cent. The station disseminates early information related to natural disaster like hailstone, drought, excessive rainfall and flood.
Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Rautahat, Sita Ram Rijal, expressed the view that the station would also help reduce human causalities. (RSS)
