Lisbon (Portugal), May 27: The Embassy of Nepal in Lisbon has provided mobile consular services to Nepali nationals residing in Coimbra, Portugal, through a two-day outreach camp held in Marinha das Ondas on Saturday and Sunday.
A total of 82 Nepalis benefited from the camp, according to the Embassy.
Ram Babu Nepal, First Secretary at the Embassy, shared that camp offered services related to passport renewal, document attestation and passport distribution.
Biometric applications for electronic passports (e-passports) were collected from 40 applicants, he shared.
Likewise, he informed that police clearance certificates of nine individuals were attested, educational and other documents of 31 individuals were certified.
The Embassy also issued passports to two service recipients.
The camp collected 6,745 euros (approximately Rs 1.2 million) in revenue, the Embassy said.
According to the Embassy, the outreach programme was launched to facilitate easier access to consular services for Nepalis living far from the Portuguese capital, Lisbon.
During the camp, applications were collected from individuals with expired, damaged or lost passports, those whose passports are nearing expiry and children requiring e-passports.
The Embassy has announced plans to organize similar outreach camps in Funchal of Madeira on June 5-6 and 6 and in Ponta Delgada of Azores on June 20-21.
Earlier, it had organized similar mobile consular camps in Portuguese cities such as Faro, Madeira, Porto and Odemira. (RSS)
